How the UFC promotes other promotions

Here's a short, 150 word submission to the Sunday Junkie at MMAJunkie.com. We'll see if I make it in this week.
We hear fans talk about the UFC and its aggressiveness towards its competitors in a negative light. We don’t hear how the UFCs “trickle down” promoting helps draw attention to the local circuit, and in turn, local fighters. Take Shark Fights 13. It boasts a large amount of fighters whose names we know due to them being in the UFC. Even though cut, they carry that name value with them from the UFCs national stage. This benefits not only Shark Fights but the undercard fighters. Now Shark Fights will gain more of a following, giving more exposure to the up and coming fighters on its cards. All of this exposure coming from what the UFC has built rubbing off on its fighters, rubbing off on the promotions they work for afterwards and rubbing off on those promotions young future stars, who are after all, the future of the sport.

Having had the opportunity to be in the electric Boston crowd that night, this was certainly a great event to have experienced live.

In all sports, stats are the bread and butter for analysts. Have an opinion? Well then you better have the numbers to back it up. However, there are intagible factors that are widely accepted as real influences on athletes. A 3 point shooter "getting hot", a team going into the second half with "momentum" or even things like "heart" and "determination". In combat sports the perceived lack of sharpness of a fighter after a long break between fights is often referred to as "ring rust". While we may never be able to define or measure something like "heart", there is enough data out there to make an observation on how a long layoff affects a fighters next fight, or his "comeback" fight.

In the MMAJunkie.com forums, the conversation of Ring Rust was taking place and long time MMA fan Travis Parsons took it upon himself to gather some hard data. With his permission, his table is shown
